South Mildura appoints Tyler Curtis as senior football coach

The South Mildura Sporting Club is excited to announce Tyler Curtis to the position of senior football coach.

A two-time Ken Mansell award winner for the club and former VFL listed player for Williamstown and Coburg, Tyler will shed his interim coach status and move into the full-time role.

Curtis was identified and chosen as the next senior playing coach by the club’s football department, who were impressed by his vision for the senior and junior football programs at the club.

With the club in its second season at the Mildura Sporting Precinct, a decision was made in 2022 to re-boot the senior program and build through our junior program in order to create long-term sustainable success. This vision is slowly coming to fruition with the club being represented in all grades of junior finals for the 2023 season including the under 14’s football team which won their premiership this season.

“Curtis thanked the Bulldogs for the opportunity to coach his home club. He understands that the club has a young list that is invested in learning and is eager to see the continued growth of the group”.

Tyler has already commenced implementing plans for next season and is excited about the future prospects of the club from juniors through to seniors.

Assisting Tyler in season 2023 in a non-playing role will be Warrick Campbell who will take on the role of senior assistant football coach. Campbell will also work with the defensive group at the club given his vast experience as a defender for the majority of his playing career. A former under 18’s football coach for the club in 2021 and 2022, Campbell moved into an assistant coach role in 2023 and is held in high regard by all at the club. “Campbell is excited about the chance to work with the playing group given it is a group that is tightknit and committed to progressing together”.

Further announcements regarding playing commitments and assistant coaching roles will be announced in the coming weeks.
