Netball – With illness running through the camp, our netballers were playing in grades and positions they may not have been accustomed to, with mixed results for the day. Mildura are always strong and this showed again on Saturday. We had good wins by B Grade, C Res, 15 d2 and 13 d2, with C Res now sitting top of the ladder undefeated. All our teams are in the top 4, so this is a great achievement so far. Keep up the hard work girls you are all doing an amazing job.
Football – Well what a day out, with the SMSC nearly having a clean sweep in football. The senior team with a late flourish of goals nearly pinched a game that was not ours all day. The boys when they play well look great but need to do this for four quarters. We had great wins in all other grades with the Under 14s group coming from behind to win against a strong opposition. They played great team football, which makes for great viewing
Our under 16s undermanned but undeterred showed amazing heart resulting in a great win, and our Under 18s who were also undermanned with six players up in senior grade, fought hard all day and eventually came home with the four points.
A big shout out to all the coaches, team managers, and volunteers for navigating teams through illness and unavailability, you are all doing a fantastic job.
Also a huge shout out to our timekeepers in football who had to sit in the grandstand at No 1 in cold weather, the club cannot thank you enough.
