In this current climate of coping with the Covid 19 pandemic, it is easy to become despondent and lose sight of the future.
But the South Mildura Sporting Club (SMSC) certainly has something positive to focus on and that is their new home at the Mildura South Regional Sports Precinct.
The first sod was turned by Federal Member for Mallee Dr Anne Webster in October 2019.
In early 2020, contractors completed all demolition and site preparation works, while also commencing civil works including footing excavation and the installation of in-ground services. Preparations works on the site’s AFL-standard outdoor sporting oval also commenced.
Last week we saw the erection of a huge steel framework for the main stadium rise out of the ground.
President of SMSC, Mark Bresnehan was speaking to council last week and the word is that the works are on track and going ahead as planned. The Covid situation has not affected the construction and the contractors are going full steam ahead.
All going well, the Bulldogs hope to play their first game at their new kennel on Good Friday 2022.
